Jimmy is a 4 years old boy who was abandoned by both of his parents when only two months old and has been staying with his maternal grandmother.

Jimmy joined Divine Hope School in 2018. To admit him we received the request from her maternal grandmother who narrated to us how he was abandoned when two months old. He is capable to join Primary School but his age requirement is not yet filled. He will probably join Primary School next year in 2022.

He was taken by the maternal grandmother who stayed with him. In 2018 she asked me to allow him begin his studies in our pre-school. We gave the boy a chance as he was living with his grandmother but when her house fell down she decided to go back to their village and asked me to stay with the kid to allow him continue with his studies. He really needs our support to fund his studies right from pre-school to University so that he can be of great help to her grandmother and probably to his parents one day.

Since he was the first born in his family and he was abandoned at an early stage in 2016, the parents have never been spotted, so it is hard to know more about his siblings. The grandmother who used to stay with him also has no job at all; she depends on doing digging for people in their shambas to earn a living.

The grandmother lives far from the school, but she used to bring Jimmy every day to school. The old woman could only not afford to bring the kid to school during rainy seasons. I wish we could one day have a school van to help in picking the kids from their homes to school to address the challenge of them walking miles away and being rained on at times. This is the biggest challenge for all our kids, and due to financial constraints we have no choice at the moment but hoping that one day our challenge will be no more.

At the school we gave Jimmy two pairs of uniforms, a track suit, two pairs of sweaters, a pair of shoes, pencils, exercise books and a bag to begin his studies. We also provide him with medical help, breakfast and lunch every day. Before Jimmy began his school he was always sick due to malnutrition with no hope of meals or going to school, and no hope for a brighter future.
